FAQ for Rattler Ford Campground, Cheoah Ranger District, Nantahala National Forest in Robbinsville North Carolina:
Very good, quirky, cabins and campground catering to motorcycle riders. We had a large campsite with two picnic tables, electricity, and trees for our daughter’s hammock. Water spigot was adjacent to the site. Wonderful visit! We only wish they would add a second bathhouse.
We stayed for the CHD10 event and the cabin was just minutes from the Tail of the Dragon. The Dragon’s Lair is a very cozy cabin, a little further away from the others which allowed for a more quiet stay and increased privacy! The view from the higher elevation was beautiful. Allen is a wonderful host and takes pride in his property. He was very accommodating with our check in/check out times. He also has facilities on site to clean your vehicle if you need to for any events you may be attending. This was my first time at the tail, and first stay at Simple Life Mountain Retreat and I’ll definitely be coming back for future tail visits!
I had an exceptional experience staying at Simple Life Cabins & Campground. My friend and I rented two single-occupancy cabins (Bear’s Den and Duckling Nest) for a multi-day motorcycle tour of the area. The cabins were all we needed. Alan is an exceptionally courteous host and I hit it off with him immediately. If you are trailering your motorcycle to the campground he has a safe, proven process for unloading/loading your bike. There is plenty of space to unhitch your trailer and park your vehicle right next to your cabin. The bath house was clean and the shower was nice and hot! The campground is located right off US-129 for easy access to Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and many more roads. Yet it’s also just far enough from the main streets of Robbinsville that the campground is quiet. Cabins are priced very affordably and Alan is very responsive to any questions you may have. Come enjoy the Simple Life for your next Smoky Mountain getaway!
Great campground next to the river. Flat tent areas. Plenty of grills. The bathrooms are pretty clean and there’s plenty of hot water.Steve was an awesome resident camper and stopped by to visit our group. The river is a great place to cool down and go for a soak.
It is ridiculous that with all 4 group campgrounds occupied there is only one toilet for two genders. Everyone needs the restroom in the morning but waiting may be impossible. Then where do you think people relieve themselves? The camp host did very little as far as I can tell.
I cannot exaggerate how absolutely wonderful my stay here was! My group of 10 stayed for 4 days during our trip to the tail of the dragon and tent camped. There was plenty of space for our cars and the covered motorcycle parking was very nice. The owner was also an amazing host and made sure we were well taken care of! The grounds are very nice and well lit, and the bathrooms are very nice with hot showers. Will absolutely bring my business here again!
Campground near lake Santeetlah. We come here to walk near the creek, but there are marked camping spots, restrooms, open field with a volleyball net and room for other sports, seems like a great spot.
Last July took a group a group of boys scout here, it was our base camp for a couple nights while we whitewater rafting in the area. For a flatlander from Indiana the drive to the campground was an experience in itself. :)The campground is nestled in a beautiful area. The site (#1) was great with plenty of room for tents along with lots of picnic tables and nice fire pit. The camp host was very friendly and told us some great stories about the area. Will try and return as often as we can!
Wow, this place is beautiful. We only stayed one night. We plan on returning. It is right next to flowing water and there is an open field and volleyball court, huge firepits at the campsites and large grills and picnic tables if you need them.Plenty of space between sites.Well worth a trip!
