This used to be our favorite park until 8 dogs in my close circle of friends ALL contracted Heterobilharzia Americana. They are all undergoing treatment. This fatal if not treated, there is no prevention and treatment is “off label” and often requires multiple treatments of very high dose regimens. This blood fluke parasite comes from snails and enters the skin of your dog as they wade, even briefly through areas of standing water, mud, or bodies of water. Bill Archer is well know for its numerous areas of standing water within this 17 acre area. Please use at your own risk and TEST your dog. This will NOT be picked up at your vets office. They will send you everything you need. Email them today. My dogs were asymptomatic. I tested only because more and more dogs were testing positive. Left untreated this is fatal. A&M will guide your vet through the treatment protocol. Follow their protocol. Good luck and please protect your pets. Obviously we cannot eradicate snails. This used to be endemic to areas along the Colorado River. It’s here in the Gulf now. It’s NOT going away, but if your pet has GI symptoms, or you even think something is not right, go to your vet. All we can do is educate ourselves , test, and treat and keep our pets out of areas we KNOW are dangers. Oh, and 2 out of the 8 also have Giardia. None of these parasites are covered by monthly preventatives. You must test and treat.
Water at dog park gets my dog really sick. Not an issue if your dog hates water.
Edit: dog tested positive for two different parasites giardia and heterobilharzia. Cost over NULL in testing and medicine over multiple visits. She’s still not cleared.
Symptoms start gradually with a loss of appetite, and eventually include vomiting, diarrhea, profound weight loss, and signs of liver disease
Edit 2: she just died during 2nd round of treatment. She had fun at the park but it ended up killing her 5 years young.

AMAZINGLY HUGE AND TONS OF FUN FOR THE DOGS. My dog ran freely and all over the park. It has a walking trail for humans, toys and playground for dogs, a pool shaped like a bone, plenty of seating for humans, and shade from trees and canopies. Theres a large and small dog park. both are very spacious. We went the day after it rained and it was full of puddles. Luckily my dog needed a bath anyway so we let him have the time of his life. There are also 6 rinse off stations outside the park for you to wash off your dog. I wish we had a dog park this big where I live.
We absolutely love this park. Small and large dog areas are separated. Pond and walking trail on both sides. There’s also a skatepark next door and washing stations outside of the park. Clean and well kept.
