Many dogs show clear signs of dog anxiety, including pacing, panting, and seeking constant reassurance. If your dog paces, whines, […]

Located within the picturesque Promised Land State Park, Little Falls Trail offers dog owners and nature lovers a serene, pet-friendly hiking escape in Greentown, Pennsylvania. The trail forms a scenic loop that spans just over a mile, winding alongside a lively river, cascading waterfalls, and under a golden autumn canopy. Its mostly flat terrain is filled with roots and rocks, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Dogs will love the sights, smells, and water features, making it perfect for dog-friendly hiking adventures!
Though not a traditional fenced dog park, Little Falls Trail welcomes leashed dogs and offers plenty of opportunities for furry friends to explore and enjoy nature by your side. The area is popular for hiking, fishing, and picnicking, and there is nearby parking with 10–15 spots. Whether you’re visiting for the beautiful waterfalls, peaceful atmosphere, or simply a leisurely walk with your pup, this trail is a hidden gem for pet-friendly outings in the heart of the Poconos.
Ok. Going to straight over the bridge and then left. Rather a lot of stones. Doable. Moderate. Lovely. Going back after the second bridge is easier. All lovely. And busier than I thought. Great hike! But wear the right footwear, bruhs! Then head to Log Tavern for a great brew!
This is absolutely my happy place. Trail is probably a little over a mile with some small falls and a flowing stream. You can easily go in the water as we do quite often great for dogs as well. Some people do some fish in there so be careful. Might actually see some great wildlife as well. Definitely a must stop
Oh, friends, let me tell you about a little gem tucked away in the heart of Pennsylvania—*Little Falls Trail*. It’s like stepping into one of nature’s paintings. You wander down this peaceful path, and the first thing you’ll notice is how the trees, with their golden leaves, just seem to whisper a warm welcome. Fall is in the air, and the colors are something special. Rich reds, fiery oranges, and soft yellows—each leaf is a happy little accident waiting to flutter down to the forest floor.
Now, as you make your way further, you come across the river. Oh, what a friend this river is. It dances and sings alongside you, guiding you to the real treasures—the waterfalls. Not just one, but a few cascading beauties, each one more serene than the last. They’re gentle, not roaring, like a soft brushstroke on the canvas of the land. And the sound… it’s like the world is just sighing in peace.
And here’s the best part, friends—when you catch those waterfalls with the autumn light kissing them just right, oh boy, it’s like a sparkle in the eye of Mother Nature herself. Each view is like a brand new canvas, full of possibilities. I always say, there are no mistakes in nature, just happy little scenes waiting to be discovered, and Little Falls Trail is full of them.
So bring your hiking boots, your sense of wonder, and maybe a little thermos of cocoa. This trail isn’t just a walk—it’s a peaceful escape where the world slows down, and you can enjoy the quiet magic of nature, one lovely step at a time. Happy trails, my friend.
Great little hike to do at Promised Land State Park. Parking is nearby and has 10-15 spots.
You can loop around the falls on the blue blazed trail. The trail can be muddy and contains lots of rocks and roots. These rocks and roots can be slippery. Water is of good quality and has fish in. The falls themselves are not too impressive, but more impressive in person than in photos.
Watch your step for toads, Eastern Newts, and snakes. I saw a small Mountain Earthsnake on the trail (small and grey in color).

This is a trail within the confines of Promised Land State Park. The trail itself can be done as a loop and is just a bit over a mile long. Cross when you get to the second bridge. While a trail does continue on past this point, it requires a water crossing and adds nothing in scenic enjoyability. The trail is almost entirely flat but it is all roots and rocks so while its very easy hiking you do want to be steady on your feet to do it. I also recommend boots to support secure footing without ankle turns. It was a bit squishy in places today due to recent rain but not problematically muddy by any means. The falls are very pretty and would make for good picnic stops. There were also several fishermen along this stetch. Good for dogs and young children. No bathrooms right here…stop at park information or concession area. Ps…any mycology fans…check out the grassy area near the concession parking..photos included! Superb!
Very good trail and it is easy to finish. You can see lots of roots on the way in the trail. The water flow landscape is very beautiful and you will get many good frames into your camera.
