Located on the outskirts of Albuquerque, Montessa Dog Park is an ideal retreat for dog owners seeking open space and tranquility. This dog park is perfect for those looking to avoid crowds, offering a quiet, pet-friendly area where both you and your dog can unwind. The spacious grounds feature wildflowers, tumbleweeds, and scenic desert views, making it a top spot for pet-friendly hiking and relaxation.
Despite its remote location, Montessa Dog Park stands out for its makeshift agility equipment, including concrete tunnels and a balance bridge. If your dog doesn’t thrive in busier parks or is a bit more reactive, this dog park in Albuquerque is well-suited to your needs. While amenities are basic, with only one aging bench and no shade or water supplied, poop bags are available, so you can help keep the park clean. Remember to bring your own water, wear long pants, and enjoy a peaceful outing with your pup!
Fun little park with concrete tunnels and a balance bridge. Lots of tumbleweeds, wear long pants.
Great place to take dogs that misbehave in more crowded dog parks. Just be aware that many dogs that come here could be fighters or biters. Try to ask any dog owners that are inside if their dogs are okay with other dogs or people. I usually just wait until it is empty to take my dogs in.
I like it here. From where I’m driving, it’s a little out of the way…about 30 minute drive, but its quiet, sparsely populated, seems safe to me, but when it’s hot there’s no shade. Nice place to get some steps in, sweat a little and enjoy a generally quiet drive back home. I prefer quiet, scenic, and not overly populated places to unwind and be outside with my dog. So, this fit my needs quite nicely.
My doggies are too big and aggressive to go to ones with other doggies this park was perfect for them I appreciate who ever took the time to make and create this park well be goin back all the time (take your doggies water bowls) bags are provided I picked up our messes but most don’t
awesome wild dog park. out in the middle of nothing, rarely has other dogs. lots of wild flowers, no shade, one bench which is falling apart. it does have a makeshift obstacle course.
