Located in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, Chaparral Dog Park is a favorite destination for local pet lovers seeking a well-maintained, welcoming space for their furry friends. This spacious park features multiple, securely fenced areas that separate dogs by their energy levels—active and passive—making it a unique choice over the typical size-based separation. Regular visitors praise its clean, safe environment and friendly community, making it a standout among dog parks in Scottsdale.
With extensive grassy fields, shady spots, and plenty of room for your dog to run, Chaparral Dog Park also offers amenities such as restrooms, accessible parking, and direct access to scenic pet-friendly walking paths that circle Chaparral Lake. The city keeps the park well-stocked with poop bags, and you’ll find benches and seating areas for owners, as well as easy restroom access. There’s plenty of parking, though it can get busy during softball games at the adjacent ballpark. Whether you’re looking for off-leash adventures or a relaxing stroll on a dog-friendly trail, Chaparral Dog Park is a must-visit on any Scottsdale dog lover’s list.
This park is huge and very active. Dogs are separated not by size but activeness. There is a passive and active dog side .The owners are courteous and cleanup after their pups to help keep the park clean. Maintenance is impeccable ,keeping poo bags stocked and the grass well maintained. Plenty of parking
My favorite dog park in Phoenix. Well technically this is in Scottsdale at Hayden Park. They have two areas: BIG and SMALL dogs. A little historical tangent- the areas used to be named HIGH ENERGY and LOW ENERGY. Which worked out great because the dogs were separated by the energy level not size. So when you go, you’ll see larger dogs in the small dog area because the energy levels matched. Either way- I have always felt safe at this dog park. I rarely see a dog fight despite coming for years. Although it is a 20-30 min drive from me, I will still take my dog there.
This is the largest and best dog park in Scottsdale with sections for Active and Passive dogs, restooms. and free parking. It is located adjacent to the ball park and a 2-mile trail around the lake. The dog park and entire park grounds are well-managed, and the bathrooms are clean! I go here every day with my dog, and he loves it!
This is my favorite park. We go every day just about. Been going for years.
It’s super well kept and always full of life. The people who go here imo seem to be more aware and pay more attention to their dogs than most parks. Makes it a much safer (and cleaner) place.
If the dog park ever gets too crowded too there’s an awesome walking path all around chaparral that’s just as well maintained.
The city of Scottsdale has this wonderful and sizeable dog park. This park has 3 areas of which 2 are used at a time. Small and big dogs. My wife and I take our small dog almost everyday. Dog owners for the most part are friendly and educated on the rules. Unfortunately there will be people with large pets bringing their dog to the small section. I understand when they have older dogs but not when they have a very active large dog trampling on the smaller ones. Some people also don’t pick up after their dog. The parking space is large enough but it can get busy when there is softball games. No only the dog will exercise but oneself as well. During the winter, grass is kept dormant, but is brought back in the summer.
