FAQ for North County Trail Parking in Pleasantville New York:
Small lot-let at Rt35 and Granite Springs Rd. Enough for 4-5 cars, and be cautious backing out.The trail is part of the old Putnam Rail line. Very flat, except for one spot up by the Hamlet of Tilly Foster. It’s a “there and back” trail as it’s unidirectional and unfortunately there’s little to no bus service connecting parts of the trail. This being said, it’s a beautiful trail with little exception and good for a walk unless there’s snow on the ground
It’s the perfect trail! Lots of bugs in your face so plan for that. Parking is available. Careful to not miss your turn to the parking lot if you are a first time driver. Got myself stuck in the con Edison parking lot. Whoops! 😬 it’s level. Walk. Run. Jog. Bike. 🚴 people are really nice. Go early because it gets hot. Plenty of shaded miles in case you want to avoid the sun over the summer. Get there sunrise as early as possible. Being water. Put on sunscreen. Spray bug repellent. Enjoy! Also enjoy all the bunnies, birds, snakes (very small 😄) and all other animal life on the sides of the trial. Simply magical. Listen to the soundtrack score of “lord of the rings” to turn this into a magical experience!
Fantastic trail. Just about 3 miles each way. Beautiful scenery changes from forest to farmland and back to forest along a nice creek.
Great place to park along the north county trail. Great for biking. Pretty level as it was converted from rail path and paved with asphalt. Watch for the bumps and ruts caused by frost heaves and tree roots. Shaded and pleasant but the leaves in the fall hide the hazards.
Northeast entrance to the Rockefeller State Park trail system, fairly popular since there’s no entrance fee 😉
