FAQ for Salmon Falls – Darrington Trail in Pilot Hill California:
Totally cool place!! Very comfortable family, dog friendly! You cannot have better or more knowledgeable servers! And did I say friendly!? I always feel like a King here! And most importantly, the wine is exceptionally good, and getting better by the minute! Over the last couple of years, the wine has improved. Most wine here is estate grown and bottled! A gem in Gold Country!
Wonderful winery – good wines and fabulous people! I am a frequent guest, and can not say enough about Sherri, Carissa, Kirsten, Gary, Bryce, Nicole, Madison, and Erin!
One of the most beautiful trails in spring time, wild flowers, lots of butterflies, river views!
Had a great time last Saturday. Great wine lineup and had a great host. We also joined the club and we are returning this weekend for the festival.
We thoroughly enjoyed hiking the Darrington Trail today! Winding through oak woodlands with gorgeous views of the South Fork of the American River around every bend, it was the perfect mix of shade and scenery for a late fall or early winter hike. The trail itself is well marked and and easy to find. It’s also well maintained, and had just enough ups and downs to get my heart pumping without being too strenuous. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant hike with a variety of terrains and nonstop vistas.
I just love hiking this area. Spring is definitely the best time before all of the poison oak takes over the trail. You can make this as long or short as you want since it’s out and back.Parking lot next to trailhead is a paid lot. Park next to bridge for free and it’s a short walk.Dogs are allowed on the trail. Trail shared with MTB’s so watch for them, sometimes around corners a bit fast.Great views of wildflowers and the river and Folsom lake if you go far enough.
Good trail. Did it in September. No water so bring your own. I had 2 40oz containers for myself. Takes about 3.5 miles from parking lot to get to the hidden bridge. Saw one black snake with a yellow stripe. Garden snake apparently. Not a lot of elevation changes. Maybe 200 feet up and down over and over again.
Such a beautiful hike. We didn’t hike the whole thing, probably a little over half. But my son and his girlfriend don’t normally go on hikes with me, so I was happy with that. And it was such a beautiful day to get outside. I loved it and will be back. There were quite a few other people out, but I enjoy seeing other people out on trails, so not a problem for me. But if you prefer being more isolated on hikes, maybe this one isn’t for you.
Really nice place to have an event. Their wine, per my wife, was really good.
