Located in the scenic heart of Opp, Frank Jackson State Park is a welcoming retreat renowned for its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful lake vistas, and pet-friendly hiking trails. With well-kept picnic areas, paved walking paths, and a picturesque bridge to an island, this park is great for families and those seeking a dog park in Opp, AL. Many reviews note the park’s cleanliness and quiet surroundings, as well as ample shade around RV sites—perfect for you and your four-legged friends to unwind.
While there isn’t a traditional fenced dog park on site, the park does offer plenty of dog-friendly walking trails where you can enjoy on-leash walks with your pet. Seating is available along the trails for relaxing or taking in lake views. The park also includes convenient restroom facilities for owners, multiple fishing spots, cabin rentals, and both RV and tent camping. If you’re looking for a relaxing pet-friendly park experience in South Alabama, Frank Jackson State Park is an excellent choice.
Stopped here for a picnic lunch on the way to Florida. Very clean park and restroom facilities. Nice lake and walking trails from the picnic area to an island. Maybe a 0.75 mile loop.
Frank Jackson’s is a nice place for relaxing and unwinding. WiFi is provided and it makes all the difference with streaming shows and ball games. Unfortunately, the children’s park is a good distance from the campsites, so keep that in mind if you have kiddos that want to play independently. The views are great for the RV sites along the lake, with decent shade for the majority of those sites. There are a few sites on the backside of the campground, that aren’t shaded at all and do not have lake views, but you’re close to the bathroom and bathhouse, which is large and kept tidy. However, the bathroom that’s located in the tent camping section, is super sketch, but it serves its purpose.
Side note: don’t bother going to the DG Marketplace on Main St. Our encounters have been less than pleasant, even for the simplest of purchases.
Located in Opp, AL, Frank Jackson state park has 32 full hookup RV sites around a large lake. The park has a separate area for boat launch. They have a separate shower and dump station. Highly recommend

This was our first camping trip in our first camper back in 2021. It was a nice small park, quiet and very relaxing. It’s clean, you can fish from the bank at most of the campsites. They do have cabins you can rent or tent sites too.
