FAQ for Lake Corpus Christi State Park in Mathis Texas:
Took 22 ft rv for weekend. Easy reservation process. Staff at gate (Mary) and volunteers very helpful, friendly and pleasant. Stayed at spot “16” in Opossum loop. Electric and water with dumpout available at gate. A pull thru location. Partial shade, LOTS of large and small ANTS everywhere and Mosquitos. It was challenging getting into and out of rig safely because of the steep slope and drop-off from the pavement to the picnic table area for the space. Actually enjoyed the lake level being lower because the shore was the only place we could walk the dogs with fewer stickers for them to encounter. Saw many white tail deer and lots of birds. The area around the lake could benefit from a “trash pick up day”. Would not stay there again mainly because the stickers were so miserable for the dogs.
I was our first time to the ocean we were on parade island. It was so wonderful I wish we didn’t have to leave. I’d love to go back some day. I was my first time to Texas even our dogs had a good time.
I spent almost two weeks here. It was mostly quiet. The lake was extremely low.The staff pleasant. The facilities decent. I stayed in the primitive with a bathhouse not far away. It was okay and I took a few showers fully clothed to cool down while I was there. It was hot.I would wake up with my sheets and pillows drenched. Not the parks fault mind you.I quickly figured out the best place to shower was the screened bathhouse near the full hookups. (Ugh.)The racoons were annoying but I got over it. It’s nice having town so close.I would definitely go back as the price is right. Especially with the Texas state parks pass.
This is such a serene spot. Great place to camp or spend the day fishing by yourself or with a group. It’s well kept! And seeing the wildlife while walking the trails is so nice ☺️
We absolutely loved this state park. We stayed in 2 cabins with our large family. Both were clean and comfortable. Sites are well spaced out. There was a lot of wildlife to see. Fishing, swimming, and kayaks were not packed, there’s plenty of space for everyone. 5 stars! And the staff was all very friendly as well!
