FAQ for Lucas park, Kansas in Lucas Kansas:
Is a very nice place. All of the neighbors were friendly and considerat of others. Camp hosts were great.Only issue was no internet .LOL
Beautiful park and campground. The hosts are wonderful! Love this place!
Really nice, quiet, dark, spacious, well maintained federal, ACOE campground on a lake. The sites on the water do not have electricity all the other others do, some have water. . Showers. if you have to be in Kansas, this is a good place to be. Only complaint is that there is only one bathroom for this large campground. Each loop could benefit from at least a pit toilet if not a real bathroom.
I live in a very scenic part of the Rocky mountains so why would I go to Lucas Park in flatland Kansas? Several reasons: The lake is beautiful, the campsites have great views, and it isn’t crowded. This was my fourth visit.
A great hike-walk to the water and back. Plenty of lizards, birds, and scenic beauty.
Easy to find if you put the trail name in GPS. The trail is slightly less than 3 miles altogether ( there and back) The trail is grassy, sandy, has some holes, etc. Has some decent hills but not horrible. The view once you reach the formations is beautiful!
Amazing stay. And it was free. This place is massive. Took me a while to choose which site I was going to stay at. They kept getting better and better. In the end I took the one with its own beach and table (number 96). Which I think most of the others had as well. I think I was the only one there. Saw one other car that left before night. Very quiet except for coyotes in the middle of the night. I would stay there every night if I could.Oh and they had fire pits. Toilets were just the hole in the floor sort of ones.
Beautiful hike through Kansas prairie! Not too strenuous but still enough for a good workout. Trail is ~3 miles. We took a shortcut we could see on Google maps. The views once you get to the lake are great! Kansas is such an underrated state when it comes to its natural beauty.
