FAQ for Barbecue Creek Park in Lillington North Carolina:
Nice place to spend time with family
Very nice for small kids to play and picnic tables
Pretty decent sized park to play tennis, have picnics, or walk around. It does say it’s open until 10pm, meaning trouble. I was there around that time a couple of years ago and two masked men chased me into the parking lot. Not sure if they were armed. Thankfully I got away when I did. I don’t think it should be open that late because of that. Also, don’t expect to use the restrooms here, they’re always locked.
Fun park to take the kids. My only complaint is that bathrooms are so far away from the ground, that my 2yr old had a near accident getting to it. But it is tucked back under the trees. So, that does help on warm days.
Not to bad for having fields for baseball, soccer, and tennis. If you are not familiar with the area the park is on Hwy 27 between Western Harnett Middle and High schools. A lot has changed in the past 25 plus years since I played summer league baseball. The dugouts are now enclosed for baseball as well as extra buildings probably for safety, and it looked like there was a center building with showers/ restrooms inside. Go check it out, it is free, just don’t trash the place please.
