Discover scenic views and dog-friendly camping at Huntington State Park Campground in Huntington, Utah. Known for its peaceful setting, this park is a great getaway for campers and their pets, offering access to the beautiful surrounding landscape and proximity to the Swell, a popular local destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Many visitors praise the generosity of the non pull-through campsites, the water and power hookups at each site, and the friendly park staff.
While the park offers stunning vistas and a quiet ambiance, recent reviews note that the grass is sparse, and there may be ongoing maintenance, such as sprinkler installations and tree removal. The lake adjacent to the campground may sometimes be off-limits due to algae or E. coli alerts, so confirm water safety before letting your dog swim. Shade in the area is limited and the beach is rocky and muddy, but the uncrowded, open spaces still make this a welcoming stop for dog lovers looking for pet-friendly trails and a relaxed vibe close to Huntington, Utah.
We would come here often to camp and head into the swell. This year all the grass is dead. One of the DNR guys said they cut down about 100 trees. Trenches were numerous for new sprinkler lines. And who puts in PVC pipes anymore? Will be hard pressed to want to come back. Staff was nice.

Unfortunately, the camp ground is right next to a road that had big trucks driving up and down at all hours of the day or night. I think this would be a great place to visit during the summer when it’s warm enough to use the boat ramp and play in the water.

Small campsites near the lake. Unfortunately the lake had Ecoli an algae so not a toe in. Not much grass either. Lots of mosquitos. Restrooms are ok. Not crowded…obviously. A ghost town vibe in August! Maybe it was the 3 days of rain and wind.
