Dog Anxiety: Causes, Signs & What Actually Helps
Many dogs show clear signs of dog anxiety, including pacing, panting, and seeking constant reassurance. If your dog paces, whines, […]

Nestled within Bluebird Springs Park, the Citrus County Dog Park offers a tranquil, off-leash retreat for your furry friends in Homosassa, Florida. Visitors enjoy a quiet setting, surrounded by shady trees, but note that the dog enclosures are tucked away at the very back—behind the children’s play area and ponds—so be prepared for a brief walk and bring bug spray during warm weather. This park is an excellent spot for those seeking a less crowded, pet-friendly destination away from main city dog parks.
The dog park features fenced areas where dogs can run and play safely off-leash. While some reviews mention maintenance issues, other guests have appreciated the clean grounds, available water for dogs (though this amenity can vary), picnic tables, and a generally well-kept environment. The area is welcoming for families with kids, thanks to the nearby playground and picnic spots, making it a convenient dual-purpose outing. Remember to use the designated paths and follow leash requirements outside of the dog zone for the safety of everyone.

Upon arrival, the entrance was well maintained, as well as the volley ball court and children’s area. But the dog park area looked as if it hadn’t been maintained for quite some time.
Very disappointing.

Neeson park woth a dog run area. Would be better if the bathroom was maintained and the dog water fountain had been on order.

So sad. it used to be nice but now it’s so unkempt. Needs to be cleaned and mowed. Maintenance is obviously non-existent. No water source dog bubbler has a plastic bag over it. The grass was very tall with many hidden branches and sticks. Off leash dog parks are few and far between in this part of Florida. The county should be embarrased and ashamed.
