moving to Haines City, we’ve been recommended by people to this park but warned that there were some not so friendly people.

the last few times we’ve been to this park it’s held true. there’s some nice people we’ve met but the regulars that come aren’t entirely welcoming.

our last visit, my mom and i took our three dogs, and kept them in a small dog section to get them settled in before moving onto the large dog section— it was going fine to transition them over, as we know our dogs are over eager and curious.

well the couple that was there had two dogs and one in particular was not fond of our dogs at all. he kept coming around our two large dogs and while one of our dogs was trying to be friendly and greet the couple— that one dog came right after one of our dog and lunged with his teeth bared in his face. our dog didn’t fight back or anything, instead he backed up completely confused and cowered away.

did the couple do anything? no, me and my mom had to grab our dog and pull him away even though he didn’t do anything wrong.

that ruined our day at the park, and i doubt we’ll be returning unless we have no choice.

it’s a nice and peaceful park, but be cautious of the regular attendees. if you want a nicer environment and don’t mind a drive, go to the Davenport dog park. the people there are way friendlier and the park is bigger with shade and benches.

It has two sides for different sizes of dogs.

I have a 7 month old Eastern German Shepherd puppy and scared away most people. He’s well behaved and sociable. So we got the park to ourselves.

The park is clean and well maintained. There is a section for big and small dogs. But be careful of the city maintenance workers. On two separate occasions city workers came in while my dogs were roaming around, and they left the gates open and let my dogs out. This is a high traffic area. My dogs were in harms way. So that isn’t ideal. Maybe these workers should have some training about the importance of keeping the gates closed.

Beautifully kept park with separate areas for large and small dogs. Has pet stations with water fountains and shaded seating areas. Plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there were not a lot of trees or shade aside from the seating area in each section and parking is across the street from the park. The cars drive pretty fast on that road so be careful when crossing.
