If you’re searching for a pet-friendly trail in Hadley, New York, the Hadley Mountain Trail Head is a great choice for dog owners who love the outdoors. Located off Tower Road, this popular hiking destination offers challenging, scenic trails winding through the Adirondacks, with breathtaking summit views and the historic Hadley Mountain Fire Tower waiting at the top. The rugged, rocky trail climbs steadily for about 1.8 miles, making it an excellent workout for you and your leashed pup. The journey offers interesting rock formations and boulders along the way, perfect for curious dogs to explore.
The trailhead features a parking lot with space for 10-15 cars, and overflow parking on the nearby dirt road. Be prepared for natural forest conditions: the area can get muddy after rain, and there are no dedicated dog park features like fenced areas or water fountains. However, the well-marked paths and natural terrain make this an ideal spot for adventurous dog owners seeking dog-friendly hiking trails near Hadley. Enjoy the panoramic views at the summit, and don’t forget water, snacks, and bug spray for both you and your pet!
Great place to hike! Lots of uphill as you’d expect going to the mountain top, wear good hiking shoes or boots, something with good grip, a walking stick would be good as well and water and snacks . The view from the top is amazing! Great views from the summit and from inside the fire tower, though it’s a tight fit in the tower itself ( stairs and platform) Seems to be a popular hiking spot, trails are easy to see, parking in the lot or on the dirt road if full. Definitely worth the trip.

The hike is definitely an inbtwn of beginner/ moderate one. The first half is a straight uphill, so wear proper shoes. Your calves will hate you haha.
The rain the past few days made it a bit muddy with some broken down trees on the path, and hanging above the path so watch out for those.
Otherwise the hike was smooth sailing with the day being sunny with no wind even at the top we we reached around 750am. Plus no bugs.

It was a moderate hike. My 6 year old son was able to do the hike with me. It was a beautiful hike with amazing views at the top. We even climbed the fire tower and the view was amazing.
