Located in the scenic heart of Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, Promised Land State Park Cabins offer a pet-friendly retreat perfect for families and outdoor enthusiasts. With designated pet sites and numerous dog-friendly hiking trails weaving through forests and along lakes, this park is a haven for those looking for natural beauty and adventure with their pups. Wildlife is abundant—spot deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and even occasional bears—while the tranquil lakes provide options for boating, fishing, and lakeside picnics.
The cabins themselves are rustic yet comfortable, featuring heat, electricity, and nearby bathroom facilities. While dogs need to be leashed throughout most areas, many campers appreciate the quiet campsites, proximity to clean restrooms, and the cozy, covered sitting areas outside most cabins, ideal for spending time with your furry companions. Trails such as Little Falls Trail are especially popular for dog owners seeking a picturesque and peaceful walk. For those seeking a dog park in Greentown, Pennsylvania, Promised Land State Park is an excellent choice for a pet-friendly escape with both natural and recreational amenities.
Careful about some of the information posted about the cabins.
Some people have written about the Pickerel Point cabins which are very different. These cabins at Bear Wallow sleep five and have a refrigerator, microwave, stove and fireplace. There are no in-cabin bathrooms. Instead, every three cabins have their own bathroom in a central outside location.

We stayed at the camping cottage (different from the cabins) located at the Pickerel Point Campground. It is a basic set up and bringing an extra fan during summer is recommended.
Below is from the official state park website: “The entire area has two shower houses with laundry facilities and one restroom.
Designated sites are open to pets.
Camping cottages have:
Electric heat and outlets
Bunk beds
Table and benches
Grill and a fire ring
Linens are not provided. The cottages are next to a shower house in Pickerel Point Campground.”

We have stayed in the Promised Land Cabins a few times. Each time it has been a wonderful camping experience. Even when it rains you have a dry roofed in area outside most cabins.
Each cabin has it’s own assigned bathroom with shower in a separate building. At least the ones along Bear Wallow rd.
The wildlife is plentiful in this location. During my last visit my family saw bear, deer, chipmunks, Squirrels, and much more.

It’s a beautiful Park with lots to offer. They have swimming and boating and camping and lots of other fun things. The reason I gave three stars is because the campsite that we had was not very level not very flat and quite Rocky. It wasn’t very comfortable to put your tent on and sleep for the night. It was also very small and close to the neighbors. Probably more of an ideal Campground for small RVs and pop up trailers. The facilities were clean and fairly new and very acceptable. For Friday night it was certainly much quieter than other campgrounds that I’ve been at. That’s a bonus!
