Overall we were happy with our experience living at Village Green. But here is a list of pros and cons:Pros:-price is decent for what you are getting. We had the 950 square foot apartment with 2 bedrooms. One bedroom is quite large, the other was really small.-layout flowed nicely-plenty of closet space for clothes or storage.-mostly brick walls on the first floor provides good soundproofing. Except one issue, see cons below.-pool in the summer time was nice, very quiet and relaxing.-close to town and everything you need.Cons:-our apartment smelled of cigarette smoke and elderly home since day 1, unfortunately our furniture still smells of it, we even purchased air purifier and scented plug ins for the apartment to no improvement.-neighbors were…. Well…. Neighbors. One had a dog that barked constantly, loudly. Even with mostly brick walls, we can still hear it as if it were in the room with us. The people in our building called the cops and must’ve told them to come to our door, since they knew we had dogs of our own….-speaking of dogs; watch your step! Most people don’t pick up after their dogs, and just let it pile up in the common grassy areas. So unfortunately I had to pick up not only my dog’s business, but someone else’s because I didn’t want to step in it. Dog bags are so cheap and it’s no effort to bend over and pick it up… but people will be people…-plumbing issues: when the washer was run, the bath tub would gurgle, or if the people above us used the restroom and flushed, our bath tub would gurgle: each time accompanied by a sewer gas smell… not pleasant at all.-the water: super hard, probably not even filtered because when I turned on the shower it would run brown for a second…. Had to shower everyday otherwise my hair would get super greasy from all the excess minerals. Stained my laundry on occasion too, which leads me to….-the washer and dryer… while nice to have, ruined our clothes. Brand new black shirts were sucked of the dye in the wash, all my black shirts are now basically gray. Graphic tees are now faded and cracked. The dryer also took several cycles to properly dry. The outside dryer vent would clog almost weekly, with lint that didn’t even look like it came from our clothes. I always empty the trap but somehow clumps of red lint always ended up there… even though I own zero red clothes. My clothes all shrunk because of the excess drying. I only lived here for 3 months, gained zero pounds and my shirts don’t fit me anymore. I have to practically get a whole new wardrobe now.-one closet smelled like cat litterbox, we don’t have cats but my wife is allergic so between that and the smoke smell constantly, we often felt ill and had headaches or stuffy noses.-janky website for paying rent bills:Gave me so much grief initially when I made my account, had to call and get help with it from the office manager who was great by the way. Tried to pay my final bill and it wouldn’t accept my bank account payment, attempted it on the due date, wasn’t able to pay so I put it off a few days and got sacked with a 10% late fee… and still had issues on trying to pay it. Had to end up using my debit card and pay an additional NULL fee to use that.Overall, the experience was mediocre at best. We were only staying temporary while we looked for a home in the area. The short term lease options are great, But if I had to choose an apartment to stay permanently or long term it might not be this one.
I could not be happier living at Village Green. I moved in at the end of March 2022 and have been nothing short of impressed. Not only is my apartment GORGEOUS, but it’s well-maintained and taken care of. Abby, the property manager, is timely with her communication and responses, and quick to let us know when changes or things we need to be aware of will occur.Overall, they take what you have to say very seriously and they truly take your feedback to make Village Green a better place to live. If something needs fixed or taken care of, it’s done within a day. The pool is such a wonderful added feature and I absolutely love the lounge area. The freezer treats are also a nice bonus! Having them do fun events like bringing food trucks and doing Easter egg hunts are just a few more reasons why I love living at Village Green. I would absolutely recommend this apartment complex to anyone.
The apartment itself is in great condition and it’s super easy to contact someone if anything needs addressed or answered. Staff is friendly and the outdoor amenities are a huge perk! (If you don’t mind everything closing before it’s even dark out…). The only other downside we’ve had is having two boil water notices within a year- but the staff and contractors work diligently to fix whatever issues may arise!
Maintenance responds very quickly to any concerns. Office staff exceptional. Only issue is with the depth of the stairs to the upstairs apartments in the older buildings. Not very safe since you can’t get your whole foot on the steps
The rent is way overpriced. Especially when you consider that many things inside the apartment are outdated. Our HVAC unit we are told is original from at least the 80’s and we had it flood our second bedroom on several occasions but all they would do is bring in a fan and dehumidifier. Everything in the kitchen is very outdated as well. Snow removal in the winter is non existent so expect to do that yourself. They have recently been doing cosmetic updates but they give you at most 2-3 days notice to rearrange your apartment to prepare for the work they are doing. When they replaced windows and doors they left a huge mess for us to clean up. They power washed in order to paint the exterior and everything in the area was left covered in giant paint chips that they did nothing about. It is apparently your responsibility to clean up after them. They also told us to remove everything from our balcony in order to paint a certain few days and those days came and went with perfect weather and no painting occurred. I have also experienced a member of maintenance staff outright lying about coming into our apartment to take care of a problem. Maintenance also comes in twice a year to change filters in the HVAC unit and check that fire alarms are still working but in over 3 years I have happened to be home almost every time and they have never once actually checked that alarms work. Only live here as a last resort.
