Absolutely stunning and unique environment. The road up to Bear Rocks is a narrow, gravel/dirt road and somewhat bumpy. There is a large, gravel parking lot with no facilities. The Bear Rock Trail is well marked and you can climb on the rocks at your own risk.

One of the most unique environments you can visit on the east coast, it’s like another world. I did the loop trail, and it was clearly marked and well-maintained. My Kia Soul handled the forest service road with no issues, so unless your car has really low clearance I’d say you’ll make it just fine.

Beautiful preserve in the Monongahela National Forest. We came up to hike, it was the day after Hurricane Debbie. There was plenty of parking as we were here early in the morning. We hiked the Bear Rocks, Dobbin Grade and Beaver Dam Trail Loop. The trail started off dry but quickly became muddy and wet. Even though the trail was not ideal we were extremely pleased with our hike. We saw lots of wildlife and only passed one person on the trail the whole time we were out. The weather started off slightly chilly but quickly warmed up. It was a beautiful hike and so peaceful. Happy trails!!!
