Dog Anxiety: Causes, Signs & What Actually Helps
Many dogs show clear signs of dog anxiety, including pacing, panting, and seeking constant reassurance. If your dog paces, whines, […]

Located at 2400 Cannery Loop, Cannery Dog Park is a popular spot for dog owners seeking a welcoming, off-leash destination in Davis, California. This well-maintained urban park features a lush grassy lawn and is fully fenced, making it a safe space for dogs to run free and play. Despite its relatively small size, Cannery Dog Park stands out for its friendly community, abundance of fresh grass, and peaceful atmosphere—even with its proximity to busy retail areas like Costco.
Dog parents will appreciate the provided seating areas and the fact that water bowls are available inside the park, although the main water fountain is just outside the fence (so you’ll need to fill up bowls for your pup). There’s also agility equipment and the park is known for being well-kept. However, shade is limited and seating is often in direct sun, so plan your visit accordingly, especially during hot Davis days. The grounds occasionally get muddy after rain, but overall, Cannery Dog Park is a lovely, clean option—perfect for shy dogs or anyone seeking a low-key dog park experience in Davis, CA.
The Cannery dog park is small, with limited seating and shade, but a nice grassy lawn. Not a lot of dogs during the day.
Super small, water fountain is outside the fenced area, so thirsty dogs have to go out for a drink. I was afraid of throwing or bouncing the ball over the fence. Redeeming quality was the grass being well watered and lush.

This park is clean and I’m happy one is provided here. However, no shade is provided. As you can see from the photos, the nice benches are in direct sun. Even if your dog can handle the sun, who says we can?
There was a nice drinking fountain outside the dog park. Inside were several water bowls. Just know you will have to leave your dog inside to fill it in the fountain. Not a problem for most dogs.
This is a good park for shy dogs who are just getting their feet wet in the big dog world. I’m happy that this dog park is provided. We love seeing areas where our four-legged friends can run free. I however like the shade of toad hollow dog park or Dixon dog park. There’s more room to run. There are fountains inside those parks, and Dixon has an obstacle course.
Small dog park but is very well kept. Lots of friendly dog parents and dogs! 😊
