I haven’t been to Montrose Dog Park in years, and what I saw was pleasing. There was plenty of clean sand, and it was spotless. Having cloth walkers at the entrance also helps. I didn’t see any dogs misbehaving like the pit bulls from the South Side or floods at the entrance area. On the downside, the City of Chicago LAZ placed expensive parking meters by the dog park, so you need to park on the main street and walk a few steps, and the dog bath machines are overpriced.

This is one of the most unique dog parks we’ve been to. One side opens up to the beach so dogs can swim and play in the lake, and the shallow water makes it easier for them to enjoy. There were lots of dogs running around chasing balls, and it was fun to watch.Since it’s a dog park, most dogs are off leash, both big and small, and there’s no separate area for small dogs so it’s good to keep an eye on your pup in case they get overwhelmed. There s also a dog wash area but we didn’t use it because it didn’t look very clean.

My 2 dogs love Montrose Dog Beach. It’s a safe, clean dog and family friendly environment where pets enjoy hours of exercise, socializing and swimming with every breed of dog imaginable while my husband and I people watch and chill with a picnic basket and beverage under our umbrella on the sand
