This was a pretty cool place to explore. There is a small freshwater pond, that has remained here since long before this area was near the sea. There are forested dunes that are cool to look at. The beach is awesome, the cliffs are pretty and some parts had very geometric patterns. There was also a lot of wildlife, such as blue crabs, skates, bald eagles, large hermit crabs (with really pretty shells), and more. The water was also very clear.

Loved it!! An even better beach than Cape Charles, so quiet and large! Take a 5-10 minute walk from the parking lot (which only holds 8 cars) down to the beach, where you could stay close or walk down to a far end. The beach is basically sand cliffs surrounded by pine trees, and has a lot of drift wood. You can also walk out nearly a quarter mile in the water! So glad we took a chance on this site.

Savage Neck Dunes was wonderful! So peaceful & quiet except for my footsteps and the sound of birds chirping. Trails were well marked. I will be back. I wanted to go down on the beach but it was high tide. Next time 😃
