We Love it at Birdsong Resort. Bod and Judy are the Best. Great fishing and Kayaking. The Resort is Beautiful. We had cabin #8. It was beautiful with a new gas fire pit and furniture on the porch with a great view.

For me it was a stop as a passing boater. For that, it was a very good stop.

First thing a boater notices is the circuitous channel coming in off the Tennessee River. However the channel is well marked and I never saw less than 9’ of water. And Bob, the owner, gives you his cell phone number when you say you’re arriving by boat and asks you to call him as you enter the channel. I did call Bob, which instilled some confidence, but I would have been fine without a call.

The Marina is fine. All floating slips. A bit dated, but all functional and most are covered.

They had gas and diesel. Gas was ethanol-free, but only 87 octane.

There is a little store, but in mid October the hours are limited and I never made it in. However a simple phone call would have brought someone over.

Ice and bait are on the honor system. How long since you’ve seen that?

I got off the boat and stayed in a cabin, which appeared to be fairly new. It has a full kitchen, huge TV and a queen bed.

But the highlight for me was a heated bathroom! You get out of the shower to a toasty warm bathroom. To someone from Florida visiting during a ‘cool’ front in October, this was much appreciated.

Unfortunately, the restaurant burned down several years ago, I’m told. Not a problem if you have a car or if your boat is well stocked.

It is a large property. I addition to the cabins, there are many RV spaces and even tent camping.

You can get a nice stroll in without crossing the highway.

There are a couple of sunken barges that detract from the look of the property, but with skyrocketing prices, it doesn’t seem like they’ll be salvaged any time soon.
