Absolutely gorgeous park! Stopped here on my way to San Antonio and debating sleeping for the night but decided to press on due to weather. Getting camping permit is super easy and there’s tons of great spots. Highly recommend even if just for a quick visit
We have gone out there quite a few times to fish, crab, and catch shrimp even. We have caught a few catfish and gar out there. Last time almost caught a big gar. It’s fun to bring the kids there are areas of shade on docks further out. The pier when first entering can turn it on at night just be responsible and turn it off when leaving if you’re the only one fishing on the pier. There are alligators out there just have to watch your kids and dogs. They are normally swimming around and don’t bother you, but it’s still a best interest to be vigilant. We had one huge one come at our throw net. The weather thundering it took off. My son and I bring a cooler out with us have a small picnic with sandwiches, chips, and a drink. We make sure to throw all our trash in the trash can. I taught my son it’s not cool to litter and take care of the planet he has to walk around in.
Visited Gator Fest. We all had a blast. Road Air Boat. 5 yr old granddaughter road the rides. Saw live gators, and other reptiles from Gator Country. Saw the petting zoo animals, they also had a Kangaroo. Will return in the future again.
Today we came here to fish to relax, the sea water is very shallow, my children can swim, but need to be careful when moving from the shore to the outside because there are a lot of seashells on the bottom. You can camp at night. That would be great.
I fell in love with this place! We have been here twice now to go shore fishing, which I am barely getting back into, and although we only got baby cats we aren’t done exploring and hopefully going to visit with a boat which I think is the better option for fishing but I will definitely keep trying the shore till I find what works best. Restroom were clean too and for ladies that is important!
