Reviews
Very clean but not staffed on weekends when they would probably have the most foot traffic. The urinals are a weird shape about 22 inches long
We stopped on our way from Casper, Wy to Salt Lake City. Plenty of interesting facts about the natural gas wells, oil wells, coal mining. Also a large herd of buffalo. EXCELLENT stop to rest and continue to Salt Lake City.
Nice little rest stop. The pond makes for a nice break especially when you spot the small fish. The playground area id also a nice option for families. And a few trees provide nice shade. The path around the pond appears nice (we have not walked the whole thing yet). We look forward to checking out the museum/visitor center inside the building sometime too!
This appears to be a new Wyoming rest area. It includes a staffed information center with travel information and WY maps.
Restrooms are very simple and small (several stalls) and open to outdoors. Therefore, I presume available 24 hours.
Behind the visitor center is a memorial and a pond with a paved (handicap accessible) walkway to a pier. Not sure if the trail goes all the way around the pond. If so, it looks like a nice place for a good walk to stretch your legs instead of just standing outside the car!
The parking lot is large enough to turn a trailer around.
Across the parking lot is a covered picnic pavilion (large) and a nearby large playground structure. I did not look at those in detail.
Overall, a great place to stop for a picnic meal and a place to rest for families. Another reviewer mentioned a dog park, but I did not notice that.
[UPDATE]
Stopped by again on the way back and added more pictures to review.
The walk goes all the way around the pond and is a reasonably good wheelchair accessible (paved) walkway. It took 10 minutes to walk with my 8 year old. There is an option to loop a little farther which we didn’t walk.
This really isn’t technically a dog park. There are some love travel stops that have bigger dog parks. This is actually a small dog area inside the Wright Visitor Center…. it looks like they just fenced in a big square area of what was once the Park area. They have two of those small little cages like they had at the last rest area? Maybe those are forever some kind of hunting dog? But this is definitely worth a stop to let your puppy run around. The beautiful part is the lake and the little pier that you can walk out on. The visitors center is also very very nice. So over all this is a good stop.
