Toll Family Playground is a well-loved community playground located in the heart of Central Park West, New York, NY. Known for its contemporary design and secure environment, the playground features a continuous fence with a single entry/exit point, making it one of the safer spots for children and families. Despite its modest size, the playground offers a range of fun equipment including seesaws, swings, slides, a sandbox, gazebos with chalkboard sides, and sprinklers. Ample seating and clear sightlines allow for easy supervision, making it popular with local families, especially after visits to the American Museum of Natural History.
While the playground boasts many attractions and is praised for its cleanliness and modern updates, there are no restrooms available nearby. Its safety-focused design and proximity to local attractions make Toll Family Playground a hidden gem for families seeking a child-friendly environment in New York City. Please note: this location is not specifically a dog park and may not offer standard dog park amenities.
One of my son’s favorite playgrounds in the park. Hidden gem. Super clean.
A smaller playground but lots of fun. It suits kids between 2 to 6 years. It has alot of different teeters.
Update: saw more than a fair share of rats on this playground. Minus 2 stars. Original four star review follows:
Very cool, different playground for kids all ages.
The place is fairly large, but it does not have the typical playground games. It has some swings, a sandbox, a climbing structure and sprinklers, but it also has several seesaws, two ‘houses’ with walls kids can paint and some other structures.
There are no restrooms here nor nearby.
There is no soft ground, and the place seems due for an upgrade, but it is a very cool option.
Designed for safety and fun, I was very impressed with this little park, everything seems very modern and contemporary, spent a lot of time on the seesaw because we rarely find any in NYC.
One of the best playgrounds in Central Park. Updated in 2016 this well laid out play area features an array of equipment that will keep your little ones entertained for longer than the average playground. Sandbox, sprinklers, two slides, seesaws, 12 swings (all for toddlers) and two gazebos with chalkboard sides. A continuous fence with only one entry/exit point and ample seating with clear sight lines means your little ones won’t be able to scamper away. This is a clear winner over nearby Diana Ross Playground. It is a great option after visiting the American Museum of Natural History. You can enter from 85th or 81st and climb the path over Summit Rock.
