Spike’s Desert Dog Parks is a well-loved dog park in Needles, California, offering a welcoming and refreshing space for dogs and their owners—even in the heart of the desert. With its rare grass lawns and shade trees, this park provides a cool oasis perfect for off-leash play and socialization. The park stands out not only for its cleanliness and maintenance but also for the charming local touches, from a working fire hydrant sprinkler to agility equipment that pups love.
Dog owners will find thoughtful amenities like covered seating, picnic tables, water bowls and hoses for easy clean-up, and plenty of shade—plus separate areas for dogs who need a more relaxed environment or may not get along with others. Families traveling through Needles will also appreciate the proximity to a children’s playground and splash area, making it the ideal rest stop for everyone. Whether you’re a local or just traveling through, Spike’s Desert Dog Parks is an essential stop for all dog lovers seeking a friendly, pet-centric community and a genuine desert escape.
It’s a nice dog park, it’s clean, it has grass, in the desert that’s hard to come by. They have a dog water dish and a hose so if you want to clean the dish out you can. It also has seating under a canopy and without for all different sizes and ages. There’s also trees, another desert miracle. They have a teeter-totter for the kids to play on, or the adults. If you walk through another part of the park there is a playground for the children which has swings & a slide, it also has a separate seating area with cement benches & tables. I live in Arizona and I traveled to California to take my dog to the park so that’s how much I like it.
A fire plug fountain! So much fun. Covered seating and partly shaded by trees. Poop bags and water bowls. Right off the highway. Great stop on our travels…even in 100+ heat.
Nice spacious dog park, playground is fun for the kids and also a cool water park. Up the road is a local pool as well. Very cheap entry.
Like an oasis in the desert literally clean and well maintained water was both available to drink and to Josel the dogs down. Spikes is now a staple when I come into town.which is often
Awesome dog park 👏 They even have a separated area for dogs that may not get along well with others. There’s even a working fire hydrant with a sprinkler on top to help keep your dog’s cool on a hot day. Shade trees, shade structures and picnic tables as well. Definitely a welcome gem in the desert. ❤🇺🇲
