Great shady spot for dogs. Please fix the water supply. Otherwise its perfect.

Glad no others were there. Large rocks along one side dangerous for dog play. Vent caps for some drainage pipes sticking up out of ground inside area…one showing signs of leakage. Pipe coming from direction of restrooms. So…worried it was sewage.
Water fountain for pups is broken. And the area is pretty small.
Read reviews before going and they were pretty good. Others bar is low..or mines high…
This is by a large margin the worst park I have visited with my pup.

I visited the Locust City Park specifically to see what it had to offer my dog. I had read the reviews, noting most were at least a year old. I’m here to update.
Improvements include a dog sanitary station with bags; newly planted grass over most muddy areas; and two benches, one of which is shaded.
While small, the area offers some training/fun equipment and lots of shade and slopes.
The one concern we encountered, unfortunately a big one, was that the gate wouldn’t close (see photos). Someone had stuck a rock in front of the opening I’m guessing to prevent a dog from escaping. I shut it as well as possible thinking it was pretty securely stuck in the mud but my dog nosed in open right in front of me and was off like a shot. Luckily I convinced her to come back. It could have been a tragedy. I knock off two stars until that is repaired.

The rest of the park was well kept and pleasant, spacious playground and equipment for different age children. If you walk the perimeter of the baseball complex you can get a pretty good walk in. There are exercise stations for adults throughout the walk.

Obviously it can’t compete with nearby Rob Wallace Park, but as a small city park it has good things going for it. Fix The Gate!
