This pet-friendly spot is popular for outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience sparkling clear waters, stunning local wildlife, and peaceful riverfront walks. The area doesn’t have a dedicated fenced dog park, but dogs can join their owners on nature strolls, kayaking adventures, or while relaxing by the riverbank. The launch offers convenient vehicle access, making it easy to retrieve your floating craft and spend a day in nature. Reviewers highlight the peaceful scenery, shallow river exits, and ample opportunities to spot moose, deer, and fish—a true gem for anyone seeking dog-friendly hiking or an Idaho riverside picnic.
Absolutely gorgeous but water was very low. We tried to go down in tubes and we had to pull them at least half of the time. What we thought would be. 2 hour float turned into 5!
Lots of fun on this river! Sometimes the boat launch is a bit crowded, but it’s always worth it!
One of my favorite places to float down in our kayaks. Water is sparkling clear, scenery is beautiful. The entrance at spring Creek launch is easy with many helpful hands to get you going If needed . The end of your float at the Big Springs Boat Launch is easy to get out with water depths knee deep from slightly tapered beach . Access to back your vehicle in, if necessary, to take out your kayak or floating craft. Rentals are available at the shop next to the launch.
What a beautiful place. I love the old bridge. I love to take pictures and this place was heaven!!
If you want a place where the water is clear and you can see the fish swimming….this is the place!!
A beautiful place to come for walk, launch a boat, see some wildlife, or picnic. It’s peaceful. I saw a few people fly fishing. Saw a moose and deer. Lots of 4-wheeler traffic though. There’s a 1-mile walk along the river that I enjoyed. If you’re visiting Island Park, this is a must visit.
