Station 87 Dog Park is a beloved destination for local pet owners in Indio, California. Known for its well-maintained green grass, ample shade from mature trees and shade structures, and clear division between spaces for small and large dogs, it stands out as a dog-friendly oasis near the highway. The park boasts double-gated entrances for safety, robust fencing—including barriers so dogs don’t just bark at each other—picnic tables, benches, and plenty of space to run. The presence of pet cleanup stations and multiple trash bins ensures the grounds stay clean, and recent upgrades have further improved the experience for dogs and their owners alike.
Special touches like a filtered water bottle refill station, water faucets specifically for dogs, and freshly updated benches add to the comfort. Separate areas for small and large dogs, both generously sized, let energetic pups zoom and play off-leash in a controlled environment. Thanks to shaded areas and a friendly, clean atmosphere, Station 87 has become a favorite spot for both regulars and travelers stopping through the Coachella Valley in search of top-rated dog parks or pet-friendly trails.
Very nice and welll maintained dog park. A few large trees provide for some great shade as well
This dog park is off the highway but we’ll worth the trip. Your pets will love it.
It’s a very nice park for small dogs and large dogs. We went to the small dog park and it was very nice very contained and the dogs had a lot of fun
Water refill station, shade and seating, double doors to enter, grass and gravel, a covered fence between small and large dog park so they don’t just bark and look at each other, and poop bags. Parking lot a bit small other than that a perfect dog park!
A gem of a dog park. Not only are there separate areas for large and small dogs, but there is also a solid barrier between the two so they don’t stand there and bark at each other. Landscaping is pretty and there are shade trees as well as a shade structure over a bench. There is a water faucet for dogs as well as a filtered water bottle refill (!!!!). The park is currently covered in grass. I don’t know if they irrigate all summer.
Updating my rating of this dog park as it recently reopened after some upgrades. They replaced benches in the park which was a huge upgrade from the previous ones. They put in some sod around previously exposed tree roots and chronic mud areas so now they’re nicely covered by grass. Most people that frequent the park and pretty chill and dogs well behaved. Although I can only speak for the “small” dog side.
Still a nice park but they added some barriers/tarps to block the ability to see from the small dog side into the large, this has significantly reduced the dogs “running the fence” from both sides which our pups really enjoyed.
