Nathaniel Cole Park is a much-loved destination for dog owners in Harpursville, New York. Renowned for its pet-friendly trails and scenic beauty, this dog-friendly park is the perfect spot for your next outdoor adventure with your furry companion. The park features a pleasant walking loop shaded by mature trees, plenty of benches for rest, a large lake with beach access, and numerous picnic spots. Amenities like pavilions, grills, and ample free parking make it an inviting place for families and pets alike.
The park is particularly unique for its blend of accessibility and natural charm, with wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and facilities. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal activities like kayaking, paddle boating, or swimming when lifeguards are on duty. While the park is known for its well-maintained spaces and cleanliness, what truly sets it apart is its strong sense of community, as seen in events like summer fireworks and movie nights under the stars. Nathaniel Cole Park is a wonderful spot for dog-friendly hiking, lakeside relaxation, and spending quality time outdoors.
This is a nice place to come and hang out for a day or rent a cabin for longer. You can come here to the manmade beach and enjoy a nice time by the water. There are lifeguards and there is plenty of parking. There’s also a spot where you can rent a paddleboat or a canoe/kayak for a very reasonable price. I also saw people out on the water in their paddle boats wearing life vests, they likely have those as well, I haven’t looked myself.
Worth checking out. I wish it could get a little more financial love from other areas to support fixing up the loose wooden boards of the steps walking down towards the beach. They could benefit from having additional benches near the beach and a cleaner more updated concession area with picnic tables. I will say, we noticed the picnic tables (2 of the 4 there), having a shorter bench on one side to allow for handicapped seating. It’s always good to create public spaces that are accessible to all. All-in-all, it was a nice place to relax and spend some time.
Great park. I was surprised that there was a wheelchair accessible table. Though the parking lot didn’t have a wheelchair accessible area to get on the sidewalk and head to the tables from the car. There was a constant edge all down the parking lot. So if you’re in a wheelchair you will need help. And it’s a stone path to the picnic table area. But I had a great day. And there was 1 port-a-potty.
Absolutely one of my favorite parks! A perfect loop with shade and trees opening to sunshine and perfectly placed benches.
I love watching families kayak and splash on the beach. The end of summer fireworks with the ice cream truck has now become an annual tradition. And my first movie night last night perfectly placed on the hill by the parking lot under the stars was an absolute thrill!
I don’t live close to it but this park has everything and it will always be a drive that I will make several times throughout the year!!!!
Nice free park. Very well kept. Access to picnic tables, lake, boats for rent.
Well maintained county Park, that has ample parking and plenty of space for your outdoor activities. There are pavilions for rent, grills for daily use, a beach to swim at (when lifeguard is on duty) and even paddle boats. The restrooms are clean and plenty of space for changing. A nice level path will take you around the lake. This park is pet friendly .
This park is free for daily use. The pavilions and paddle boats have a fee. There is snacks and concession stand available during the midday.
