Large Park with towering cliffs, tall waterfalls and trails for all types of hikers, bikers . There’s a climbing too. The majority of parkings are NULL per day, or you can use your Empire pass. The most annoying issue is that they open parking at 9 which wastes 2 hours of daylight in the winter. There are alternatives in Mohonk preserve and a couple of free parkings but they are not always convenient.

Minnewaska State Park is a hiker’s paradise! The park offers an incredible variety of trails, each with stunning views that make every step worth it. I explored Millbrook Mountain, Paterson’s Pellet, Gertrude’s Nose, and Lake Minnewaska, and each spot had its own unique beauty. The landscapes range from serene lakes to dramatic cliffside vistas, perfect for photos and just soaking in nature. The trails are well-maintained and there’s something for every skill level. Whether you’re seeking adventure or a peaceful retreat, Minnewaska is the place to be!

Awesome trails, great hiking experience. I recommend coming early as the lots fill up quickly. Particularly on high traffic days like Memorial Day. Entry is NULL per vehicle as of this writing.
The EV charging is completely inadequate at this point.

This is the main entrance for people visiting Lake Minnewaska and many of the other popular destinations in Minnewaska State Park Preserve.

Sometimes the road may become very busy. When you enter you may encounter a Park Ranger directing traffic to either side of the gate house.

Typically the left lane is for guests who do not need information, who are paying by credit card or already have a state issued card for admission like an Empire Pass. These guests can take advantage of the kiosk which most likely has maps printed and available as well.

The right lane is for guests who need more information.

Once through the gate there are well marked signs to various parking areas and to the visitor center.
