Glenlake Dog Park in Decatur, Georgia, offers a welcoming and shaded area for dogs and their owners to relax and play. This dog park features tall pine trees providing ample shade, benches for comfort, and a fully fenced open space where dogs can run, jump, and socialize off-leash. Its tranquil setting makes it an ideal spot for local dog owners or visitors seeking a less crowded, peaceful experience.
Located just off Norris St., the park is accessed by a gravel road and sandy lot, with paved parking and walking trails nearby. While there is a water fountain inside the play area, bringing extra water is recommended. Visitors will appreciate the clean environment and the friendliness of regulars, although there are noted gaps in the fence that owners of small or determined dogs should watch out for. If you’re searching for a “dog-friendly park in Decatur, GA,” with shady spaces and easy trail access, Glenlake Dog Park is worth a visit for you and your furry friend!
Small park but nice trail if you aren’t trying to walk far.
The dog park had shaded areas and trees inside the fence. There was a water fountain for the dogs inside the play area. The space was very open for dogs to play, run, and jump. The only negative I have is the entry driving to park. It is on a narrow gravel road. And the parking lot is sandy. So you will have to clean paws, shoes, car seats and floors.
Beware if you have a small or medium sized dog, or a determined larger dog – there are gaps of 6” or more in several areas of the fencing. My dog almost escaped but luckily I caught him. This occurs at most areas where the fencing meets a hill.
Visiting from out of town and found this spot. It was clean and the regulars were very friendly!
Sunny Fall Sunday. Glad packed water because the park has NO WATER. No dog course training amenities (bars, stairs, tunnels). Single small pen for all dog sizes. Pine trees, pine needles, pine cones. No grass. Plenty of benches. Easy access from paved parking lot. Hidden gravel park entrance way off main road. (Thank goodness Google had correct driving directions). Paved walking trails surround the pen. Only 2 other dogs arrived in over an hour so not a lot of action.
