Dog Anxiety: Causes, Signs & What Actually Helps
Many dogs show clear signs of dog anxiety, including pacing, panting, and seeking constant reassurance. If your dog paces, whines, […]

Rock City Park, located along S Gate Rd in Danville, California, is renowned for its striking rock formations like Elephant Rock and the Sentinel Rock Wind Caves. The park offers pet-friendly trails and plenty of natural features, making it a favorite destination for families and dog owners looking for adventurous hikes and dog-friendly activities in the Mt. Diablo State Park area. This park is popular for climbing, exploration, and scenic photo opportunities, especially for those visiting with their pups.
While Rock City Park does not have typical off-leash fenced dog park facilities, its open spaces and trails are a huge draw for those seeking dog-friendly hiking experiences. The terrain is rugged and can be steep, so visitors should take care when conditions are damp. Take advantage of the multiple informal parking areas around the rock attractions, but be prepared for limited amenities—there are no restrooms or designated water stations on site.
Rock City was great to see! The rock formations are unique and beautiful. It’s easy to walk through and some of the rocks you can climb. I recommend visiting, especially if you’re also visiting Mt. Diablo and going through the south gate entrance.
Hike with fun climbing experience. The rocks look very “lively” especially the elephant rock! You can also see wildlife here.
Rock city has a lot of giant rocks. It is fun for kids. There are quite a lot of people during weekend and holidays.
This is where Elephant Rock is alongside other rock formations. No restrooms nearby so plan accordingly. This area of Mount Diablo is rugged and steep so be careful especially in damp conditions. The rocks themselves are fascinating, they look like an outdoor art exhibit. People over the years have left their marks on them, literally, and some of the holes in the formation are large enough for children to climb into (please don’t let your kids do this)
The best thing to check out when in Mt. Diablo State Park.
The parking isn’t properly shown in the maps, but there are actually 3-4 places where you can park around the actual sentinel rocks.
We parked near the board of Rock City Park, and it took some time to search where the actual attraction is. The rocks on our way had no holes in it. Then we followed the voices of excited children and figured the actual location. It’s Sentinal Rock Wind Caves.
Quite an interesting rock formation!
Take cute pics around this place. People have ruined its natural beauty by carving their names and other random stuff on the rocks including Khaleesi+Jorah.
