Dog Anxiety: Causes, Signs & What Actually Helps
Many dogs show clear signs of dog anxiety, including pacing, panting, and seeking constant reassurance. If your dog paces, whines, […]

Discover the serene beauty of the Rio Rancho/Corrales Bosque Preserve, a popular destination for dog owners seeking pet-friendly trails near Corrales, New Mexico. This unique area boasts access to the scenic Rio Grande, offering dog-friendly hiking, walking, and beach experiences just off NM-528. Visitors enjoy a peaceful escape surrounded by beautiful scenery, opportunities for bird watching, and spots for fishing or swimming with their dogs. While the area features natural landscapes rather than a traditional fenced dog park, it’s a beloved outdoor spot for locals and visitors alike.
The preserve is known for its tranquil walks along dirt roads, and although construction has affected parts of the bosque, it remains a favorite place to relax and enjoy nature. Parking is limited and involves a drive along a dirt road, but the reward is a true immersion in New Mexico’s bosque environment, perfect for leashed dog adventures.
This used to be one of my favorite spots, but why are they doing construction and ripping all the trees out of the bosque *preserve*? It makes no sense. It was so beautiful before, and now it’s just bare and sad.
Beautiful if its not too busy. Not a lot of parking.
Really enjoyed the walking, the scenery, and the bird watching!
It is so beautiful to walk, fish, swim or just plain relax. It’s one of my favorite places to escape and relax..This one is off of 528 Rio Rancho turn by the Chevron gas station. There are so many roads you could turn down on 528 and every single one is completely different beautiful scenery and paths. I always bring a grocery bag with me so on my walk I’ll end up filling the bag with trash. I brought my granddaughter she’s 5 and I had given her a bag also. She was so proud of herself that she filled her bag more
Than grandma did. Loved how her innocent eyes lit up and so proud of herself to help keep the river clean.
This is a wonderful little portage and beach. It requires a long slow drive a washboard dirt road, along an irrigation ditch, but then, for those who’ve braved it, you are rewarded with the end of civilization and the beginning of a journey along the Rio Grande. Dog walk, bike or toss in a float. Just remember to wear a life jacket on the river and leave all flames behind.
The trail system is good, next to the Rio Grand River. Not a lot of people here mid day Friday afternoon. Great weather for early December!
