Decent little loop for a run or hike. Barely any elevation change but some rocky sections and all under canopy. About 2 miles of trail overall but you can keep looping and get more in.

Beautiful well hidden trail! – the only negative is 1 billion + baby ticks. Wear protective gear. Spray boots, nets, whatever you can do to save yourself the horror of unshoeing and seeing 500 baby ticks race up your leg. Great trail otherwise. Will be back come winter.

You’ll find the Cardinal Valley area by going in the small gravel driveway/ parking lot just west of the railroad tracks. The first part of the trail is quite smooth, wide, and easy. Then you’ll come to a loop and the terrain is a little more rocky in some areas. There was a little run-off creek on one side of the trail and on the west side of the loop is the creek. We heard and saw so many different species of birds and saw a lot of deer tracks. Since we went in the early spring we got to see so many little wildflowers. There were no other people there, and it was a beautiful, quiet walk. Easy enough for all ages.
