A hidden slice of nostalgia that should not be passed by. The stained glass around the carousel is gorgeous. Definitely support the ongoing efforts to sustain Shermans.

Sailing my V4 through the Adirondack Park section by section. Scoped Caroga Lake en route through Bleeker, Benson, etc,… looks like they’re renovating this attraction. Most of the lake is private beaches however.

Ain’t what it used to be, but slowly being revived by the Caroga Arts Collective. Once upon a time, this was a magical place that gave kids great joy and entertainment. It had bumper cars and a revolving swing set that flew you out over the lakeshore. It had fresh made cotton candy and dipped soft serve cones with sprinkles. The major attractions were the ferris wheel and tilt-a-whirl seats you could share with cousins.
Those days are long past. Now it’s got a world-class musical operation bringing in talent to rival Tanglewood and the big cities. The Bacon Boys were here last summer! All they’re missing is great food options and a modern rehab of the grounds. It’s still odd that a private home encroaches into the park space. Not sure that’s helping things progress.
But, the Arts Collective is clearly talented and highly desirable. Is it enough to boost the local economy? Not yet. Better question: is the local economy even savable? NY as a state is a total mess. You can see the effects of horrendous politics everywhere throughout the Adirondack region. It’s a zombie state. Entire cities are wastelands of poverty and crime. But, this is about Sherman’s and great memories.
Good luck Caroga!
