I live close. It’s nothing special. A lot of construction going on at the damn beside it. Really nothing here.

The park offered fantastic views of the river and abandoned lock. However, vandalism and neglect have taken their toll on the park itself especially the restrooms. A strand of rolled up barbwire laid near the entrance to the actual park from parking area. The restroom doors appeared to be locked but heavy damage to all the locks and one had been broken into and contents scattered.

We enjoy taking our kids here. It is very sad that it isn’t being tended to as well as it once was. When we first started many years ago it was very well kept. It was very clean and you could see that someone took a lot of pride in it. We went today and there is trash EVERYWHERE. The dam was open and that was awesome, but the park is becoming very dilapidated. I wish that the patrons would help take better care of the place.

Heidelberg Park sits along the Kentucky River. It could be a nice park, but many visitors have just thrown trash everywhere and there weren’t any garbage cans to be seen. The park overlooks the Kentucky River Lock and Dam #14 and can be viewed through a chain link fence. On the day I was here, a lone doe meandered by non-chalantly. Careful watching and you may see some indigo buntings and scarlet tanagers. Finally, the blue bridge over the River offers a nice view of the river.
