Super sick views to watch the sunset. Only thing is, so many people know about this place that you’re very unlikely to watch in peace. But!! If you’re a people person might be cool to watch the sunset with a bunch of strangers and possibly make some friends!

I have hiked this trail several times, both in the spring when water was running down the granite face and in the summer when it was dry. In my opinion, this trail is the most interesting trail on this side of the Albuquerque Sandias. The granite face is cool, the vegetation is varied, and the rocks have beautiful color. I have seen deer, hummingbirds, coyotes, and many different kinds of birds and interesting bugs here too.

Once you hike up to this spot, it will be lots lots and lots of rock climbing, at times super steep but it’s all worth it once you get all the way to the top especially for sunsets. Trail is well marked

Did a solo hike here while visiting family in Albuquerque…it was just what I wanted! It was easy to get to (at the end of Candelaria), there was plenty of parking and the view of the city was beautiful. The hike is a bit strenuous and rocky at some points, but going to the top was totally worth it. I live at at sea level in NC, so my lungs aren’t used to the higher elevation. I took my time and spent about 3 hrs total going up and back down, with a long break at the top to take in the view, enjoy the breeze and drink some water.
