We love this off leash trail for an evening stroll. There are a lot of roots in some places, but otherwise a mostly flat, level trail. 1.8-2 mile loop. Parking can be limited on weekends.
This is a beautiful, clean trail and depending on the day/time you go, most people are very friendly.Most. I went with my dog during lunch on Sunday and these 2 women were glaring at me, saying they don’t know who I am — as if you’re only allowed to be there if they know you. I was only 5 feet away from them & walking in that direction so I could clearly hear them and it was just odd.I have gone several times & each time I’ve found it relatively easy to “find my way back” when exploring the trails.
Very pleasant, mostly flat loop. Some mildly tricky footing, with tree roots and occasional mud after rain. Lots of shade from trees and a nice open area with photo ops of the pond. This also looks like a favorite with dog walkers.
The trail is good. Both paved and unpaved pathways. If anything, the plants/bushes close to the river kind of block the view, significantly. Maybe the parks and rec dept. could trim those down a bit. I sat there on a bench but coukd barely see the river right in front of me, 50 yards away.

There’s not a whole lot of parking, and towards the beginning of the trail things are fairly close, so if you encounter people who act like they own nature, it won’t be so pleasant at first.But this trail is so beautiful and the reward for getting lost is fresh air, scenic views of the water, many sky-high fully-matured trees, and the occasional cute dog or two!If it’s your first time, you’re bound to feel some confusion; nothing is really labeled, there’s no context for the occasional arrows on random trees, and if you try to locate yourself on your GPS to determine your distance from your car, you’ll likely find that the projected walk back is inaccurate. The trails aren’t really maintained, in the sense that it’s not always very clear which way to go to complete the trail.But if you stick with it, and you come at a time when it isn’t too busy, it’s an otherwise wonderful experience that’ll definitely leave you feeling like you had a great, fun workout.
