Ryder Park is a beloved green space nestled in Ossining, NY, renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, scenic hiking trails, and dog-friendly amenities. This pet-friendly park offers a refreshing escape into nature with well-marked, maintained trails, perfect for leisurely dog walks or adventurous hikes. Families enjoy the spacious grounds, playground, picnic areas, sports courts, and seasonal events that add charm throughout the year.
What makes Ryder Park unique for dog owners is its designated, fenced-in dog park located at the west entrance off Lexington Avenue. Here, pups can play off-leash safely with other dogs, while the extensive trails throughout the park require dogs to remain on leash. Even outside the dog area, Ryder Park is a favorite local spot for dog-friendly hiking in Westchester County, making it a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and their four-legged companions.

I went for the “Spookctacular Fall Festival” the weekend of Halloween. The website advertised that there would be bouncy castles, activities, face painting, etc. There was nothing but a few food trucks, craft vendors selling stuff, and some live music. Such false advertising when you plan around kids. On top of it, parking was like two miles from the festival and they don’t do shuttles as some other towns will do when they organize these types of events. We ended up just playing with the playground stuff cuz my kid was so bored even though we specifically chose to come here based on their website. At the very least, food was good but this was not what I expected based on what was advertised and lines were really long.
