Essig Park offers a welcoming dog park experience in Yucca Valley, California, surrounded by stunning mountain views and open desert landscapes. This well-kept park features separate areas for small and large dogs, giving pups of all sizes safe space to play off-leash while their owners relax. Guests frequently mention the park’s cleanliness and friendly community atmosphere, making it a local favorite for both residents and travelers passing through the High Desert region.
Dog owners can enjoy covered seating and benches—especially appreciated during the desert’s sunny days—and water access for their pets. While the small dog area has limited shade and seating, the large dog section benefits from trees and additional chairs. Beyond the dog park, Essig Park boasts playgrounds for children, restroom facilities, and plenty of open space, making it ideal for families seeking a pet-friendly outing. The park is regularly maintained, and visitors appreciate the peace, quiet, and ample parking.
My girl and I went there for a sushi picnic. We sat underneath the pavilion at one of the picnic tables that they have there.
We saw some children playing on the playground with their children, and people bringing their dogs for the dog area.
Overall, it is a nice, clean, and quiet Park.
This was our experience and I hope that you go here take your experience will be just as pleasant.
Good park for kids. There is a concrete old-style wagon, a horse, and the play equipment is well maintained. Lots of grass for playing ball. Clean. Will come back.
Lovely park with a playground for big kids and one for littles. Restrooms were clean and worked well, and there was a nice dog park too with lots of happy pups. And the view is great!!
One of the most beautiful and well-kept dog parks in the country. I travel in my RV with my dog, Pajamas, and we have been to ‘em all. The mountain views here are stunning! Nice people, grass and stone park, very clean…and did I mention those views? What a jewel.
Lovely small dog park with nice people. There is a big dog area too, we just happen to have small ones. The grass could be a bit better tended in winter, and lighting/more seating/some shade would be greatly appreciated. Still, very glad to have this venue available to the public in Yucca Valley!
