FAQ for Downing Park in Yorktown Heights New York:
Wow, I couldn’t believe there weren’t drug addicts and homeless people playing butt darts in the bathroom.
I have been coming here for years. It is a wonderful Park. The paths are good for walking. It’s also nice to sit under one of many trees and read or just chill out. The restrooms are super clean. There is a wonderful playground that is constantly being used. And so much more.
Nice little park, most use it to park their cars and go walk in FDR Park.Update: Has nice ball fields and various facilities. Great spot that people and groups can use to meet at. Has two pavilions that can be rented or if they are not being used just drop-in and use them randomly.Great for dog owners
Nice location for private events or picnics. The playground equipment is a bit strange, and has a weird double-swing that needs multiple people to use, but doesn’t have regular swings. There is a workout section too with parallel bars and signs on how to use the equipment to work out. The bathrooms are a fair walk from the covered picnic table area. There is a grill next to the covered area, and trash cans all around. Through the parking lot there is a baseball field with two dugouts.
Wonderful entrance to FDR park. The children’s playground is sweet and magical. They have a little library box which is a great surprise. I got 2 bestsellers and plan to add some books on my next visit. I will be back and walk and enjoy nature in Yorktown.
