Mission Creek Shelter offers a unique combination of dog-friendly hiking trails and designated pet areas, making it a standout dog park in Whitewater, California. The park is known for its peaceful, scenic surroundings and well-maintained walking paths, perfect for both relaxed strolls and longer hikes with your furry friend. Parking is free but can be limited, so plan ahead for your visit!
This dog park features separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, a dog wash, a water fountain, and cleanup stations. While there is plenty of open space for dogs to run, picnic tables, and shade, seating inside the actual fenced dog area is reportedly sparse or located outside the fences. The surface is primarily mulch rather than grass, so it may get warm in summer. Families will appreciate the nearby playground and public restrooms, making this a great all-around spot for dog owners and their pets to enjoy some fresh air.
This is a great hike easy open trail. Be on the look out for deer under the desert shrubs.
Really clean place. Rangers are frdly and very informative.
Loooooved this trail as much as my dog did
Love to hike the 6.5 mi from Whitewater preserve to the stone shelter. mission Creek was just barely a creek maybe even just a trickle. bring lots of water. It’s rated hard but I definitely think it’s moderate
What a amazing day hike. Very slow incline and the road up to the shelter takes about 45 minutes. It was peaceful and quiet and very easy to walk up.
