The Dog Park in Wheaton Regional Park is a popular pet-friendly destination in Wheaton, Maryland, offering a moderately sized, fully fenced space where dogs of all sizes can play and socialize off-leash. The park is known for its welcoming community of dog owners, and provides plenty of shade and seating with picnic tables and benches scattered throughout. This dog park does not have separate areas for small or large dogs, but it provides a clean, open gravel surface for pups to run, along with a simple tunnel for some extra fun. Water is available at a fountain (seasonal), and water bowls are often left by local visitors, ensuring your pet stays hydrated while enjoying this local gem.
Amenities include easy access to parking, maintained porta-potties suitable for wheelchair users, poop bags and trash bins for responsible pet clean-up, and ample seating under shady trees. Located adjacent to pet-friendly trails, this dog park is perfect for those looking for dog-friendly hiking in Wheaton, MD, or just a relaxing spot to meet other dog lovers. While it is more basic compared to some parks with agility equipment, the friendly atmosphere and convenient location make it one of the best dog parks in Montgomery County for a simple, enjoyable outing with your dog.
Not much there. No grass or stream. Just a tunnel and gravel. The are some port of potties next to it if you need to use restroom. The park provides dog clean up bags and garbage cans. The dog park is not separated into “small dog” “big dog” areas.
It was an okay dog park, nothing special. Didn’t see a separate place for small dogs. It was fairly clean and there was water. On the small side.
Beautiful dog park. Moderately sized. Has benches for work/well intentioned picnic. Has fountain for all seasons but the winter season (it’s closed for winter). Has a feedback box. Has TWO big portapoties. Could fit a wheel chair in one of em. Can say the one I used was maintained well. Plenty of parking. Seemed to be a popular trail next to the dog area. I could setup a hammock here and fall asleep. This is my new favorite dog park.
It’s a decent dog park. There isn’t much there for the dogs to do other than run around. Other parks have hills, hoops, and platforms for the dogs to play with. Its nice that they have a Porta potty next to the park if you need to go. They also have water for the dogs. I’ll come back if I’m in the area.
My dog, Tootsie Roll had so much fun here on a Saturday morning. Lots of shade and space to run and play. The folks who frequent the park have left water bowls in case you forgot yours and there’s a spigot. There are plenty of picnic tables to gather and meet one another and the dog owners and dogs were very friendly. There was not a separate space for large and small dogs but all sizes of dogs were welcomed and loved. Owners of dogs who play rough were monitoring their behavior so that everyone could enjoy the space.
