Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the beautiful North Park area, North Park Dog Park #2 in Wexford, Pennsylvania, is one of the largest and most popular fenced dog parks in the Pittsburgh region. With spacious separate areas for small and large dogs, secure fencing, and plenty of room to play, it’s the perfect spot for social pups and their owners. Visitors frequently mention the welcoming community, making it an ideal place for dogs and owners alike to make new friends.
The park is well-equipped with a water fountain, running water, buckets, shaded spots from mature trees, and a covered pavilion with picnic tables for relaxing between play sessions. Ample gravel parking is available nearby, and there’s always plenty of seating. While the park can get a bit muddy after rain or during the winter when drainage is poor, on sunny days, the space is dry and perfect for play. Its location makes it a convenient choice for anyone looking for a great dog park in Wexford, PA, with easy access to pet-friendly trails and the amenities of North Park.
One of the biggest dog parks I’ve been too. They also have trees for some shade and a water pump. The regulars seem sweet too.
Very welcoming people. Dogs are great (of course). One of the best off leash parks in Pittsburgh.
North Park has two dog parks, and the other one was temporarily closed, so I took my dog to this one on Pierce Mill Road. On a sunny Saturday morning, this dog park had a number of dogs and humans with whom my dog could interact. A few dogs barked and fought a little, but the humans quickly stopped that behavior. The areas are fenced in, one for small dogs and another for bigger dogs. I appreciated that a water fountain and buckets were available, so dogs could stay hydrated in the heat. My dog ran around and had fun. The ground on a sunny day was dry, although I would expect the ground to be muddy on rainy days. People could sit at a pavilion and a picnic table. Parking spaces were available in the gravel lot nearby.
Nice pavilion and plenty of picnic tables to sit at! Be aware it’s on a slant so the puppers will get tuckered out quick! Me and Athena approve!
Nice Dog Park with very secure fencing.
Running water with plenty of bowls and buckets. There’s usually enough space for you to go play in your own corner if you want.
Saturday’s can get very crowded and like any Dog Park, there is the possibility of the occasional “problem child” (Owners of course, not the dogs…) who isn’t paying attention or being responsible for their pup, be wary.
Drainage at both locations is pretty bad and the ground quickly becomes a mud pit. This location in particular can be an Ice Skating rink in winter as well.
Overall a good park with plenty of space to play with your better half(s).
