Discover the natural beauty of Westfir, Oregon at North Fork Trail Trailhead (Segment 1), an inviting destination for dog owners seeking a scenic, pet-friendly hiking experience. This trailhead features picturesque riverfront hiking, lush forest scenery, and the historic Office Covered Bridge – a perfect photo spot to kick off your adventure. Though not a traditional fenced dog park, this location is popular for leashed walks and exploring nature alongside your furry friend.
North Fork Trail is lightly trafficked, offering a tranquil escape and plenty of opportunities for your dog to sniff, hike, and enjoy the great outdoors. The area boasts clean restroom and picnic facilities, making it an ideal stop for a lunch break during your dog-friendly hike. Please note, poison oak is prevalent—it’s advisable to keep your dog on leash and tread carefully through the trails. For those seeking more challenge, the nearby alpine trail offers beautiful views and a vigorous workout.
This is a beautiful trail, but it is in need of some maintenance. There are a few logs down across the trail, and the foot bridge is REALLY sketchy.
OMG, THE POISIN OAK! The poison oak is thick! Unless you are completely immune to poison oak, STAY AWAY!
Three stars because of the old historic covered bridge, the clean bathroom and picnic facility, and because it really is a beautiful trail.

Hiked this trail in February, 2021.Due to the time of year I ended up a little wet and muddy, but it was well worth it! I would definitely recommend this river trail!

Nice, lightly trafficked, hiking trail. There is no “destination point” persay (no waterfall, or mountain viewpiont), but a beautiful forest trail that runs beside a river almost the whole way. Also, the office covered bridge is a lovely place to take a few photos before you start.
