Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Houlihan Sid Fay Fields in Westfield, NJ, is known for its well-maintained, artificial turf fields and spacious grounds that attract local sports teams and dog lovers. While the park is largely recognized for soccer and ultimate games, it offers an open space where dogs can be walked, providing a pet-friendly outdoor environment near Lamberts Mill Road. The peaceful setting, despite its proximity to a busy freight rail line, makes it uniquely vibrant and active.
Visitors appreciate the quality of the turf and the open, green environment that is ideal for outdoor exercise with your dog. Parking is limited, with overflow on surrounding streets, and “restrooms” are limited to port-a-johns in the lot. No water fountains or specific areas for small or large dogs have been noted, so visitors should come prepared. While there are no dedicated off-leash or fenced areas specifically for dogs, the park’s open fields and community atmosphere make it a solid dog-friendly space for leashed pets in Westfield, NJ.
Parking lot size is terrible , most park on the street . It sits next to a railroad that’s active . Noisy . No bathrooms . Bring your chairs.
Nice field to play pickup, has goals, the fences are low so it’s more suited to 5 a side or something otherwise errant shots and passes will go over the fence.
I enjoyed the state of the turf and would come here again to play.
Coached four Ultimate games on the field over two days. Turf quality was good. Rain was heavy and prolonged during one day and there were no drainage problems interfering with play. Only bathrooms are two port-a-johns in the parking lot. TP stock was ok but no hand sanitizer to be found. Freight train track adjacent to the field was very busy both days I was there.
Very nice facility and artificial turf field. Was there for a 9-10 year old soccer game. Good refs, too. Didn’t call throw-ins the way I would have (as an ex-FIFA ref, but otherwise nice control and fair calls.
Westfield, NJ Houlihan. Turf Soccer fields are great to play in. The bad part, there are no bathrooms just port a potties. They also don’t allow food or drinks on the field, EXAMPLE: PIZZA and SODA!! Bottle water or your own drink it’s ok. The other bad thing, Westfield Public and Private soccer clubs practice here all the time and sometimes it’s hard to get a pick up game going when all these clubs or trainers show up. Other than that this field is great.
