Great, easy trails to enjoy nature. The loop around the lake is highly recommended. Can sometimes hear traffic sounds, there might be a gun range nearby as well. We’ve run across a bear and a bobcat here before. I also saw an offleash dog attack an on leash dog there recently. Passing bikers have told me they’ve been attacked by offleash dogs here as well. I haven’t experienced this in the last few years I’ve been coming here (offleash dogs, yes, attacks, no) but it’s better to be aware. I still bring my dog here and haven’t had an issue yet.

Good place, and it is located in the city itself. No need to go far.

Large free parking area for the reservoir. Very easy to get to and find.
The loop is about 2.5 miles long and a mild walk, well maintained. Beautiful scenery along the way.
This is a popular spot for biking, but also great for walking, dogs and kids.

Easy walking trail, didn’t take us long to get through it. Beautiful woods. I liked the cliff edge where you can see down into the little creek. It was a bit dangerous over there due to the ice and the sheer drop but it was still beautiful.

You can piece together a 20 plus mile loop, but there is bail-out double-track and dirt road that runs up through the middle of it in the event you want to bail. Including a gravel loop of Ashley Reservoir is a great mid-singletrack break, and offers all sorts of waterfowl viewing in spring and great foliage in the fall..a real treat!
