I typically NEVER write any bad reviews because I know how hard it is to run a business, and understand (especially a doggy daycare) that you need to make decisions to keep the other dogs safe, but this was not that. If you have any care about the owner being knowledgeable about specific dog breeds or just general facts about how dogs behave, do not bring your dog here, especially for their safety. I have an Olde English Bulldogge that is missing one hind leg and also has A LOT of energy. He also has some trouble picking up cues from other dogs, so with full transparency, he has been dismissed from other daycares. When I called to explain this, I was told “he won’t have more energy than some of the other dogs in there” and “it should be no issue” cool. I then spoke to Kristi, who is the Owner. I had a conversation with her and right of the bat there were many red flags. She claimed to have grown up with Olde English Bulldogges, but let me know she would be putting him in the toy group, if you know anything about that breed, you know they are always large dogs. After our conversation, she told me it’s likely it’s not going to work out because he had a lot of energy (?), but we could give it a shot. Coming in for our meet and greet was truly awful. It seemed like she had already made up her mind. When they sent him in for his “evaluation”, Kristi explained that they don’t accept special needs dogs, especially ones that are missing their back legs because they are less stable than the ones missing their front, (again, if she knew anything about tripod dogs, you would know this is HIGHLY inaccurate). She also failed to recognize that I heard her telling the evaluator what to say to me while bringing my dog out (not sure they even introduced him to other dogs). I would have preferred honesty to excuses. Unprofessional and downright dangerous for other pups that go there. I’m sure other Dogtopias are great but I would stay clear of this one.

Dogtopia is absolutely wonderful! The staff loves dogs and they treat every dog uniquely. They know every dog’s name, what they want, what they like to eat, and they are truly committed to every dog’s well-being. Dogtopia has been a lifesaver for us and our little dog Coco

The staff at Dogtopia of West Orange are awesome!!! When I brought my dog (Lita) to doggie care, every staff member knew her name!!!
Lita is a shy little one but the staff knew how to work with her!
The manager Kristy is the best! She understand/address every Pet Parent and dog needs. I highly recommend Dogtopia of West Orange to any Pet Parent that needs doggie care!

I came to Dogtopia in West Orange because I was in town for a graduation. I didn’t want my dog to sit in a hotel room all day. They went above and beyond to make sure she was taken care of, as well as make sure I was comfortable leaving her. To do this for someone they didn’t know, and know that I was not from the area and wouldn’t come back, showed how much they put the dogs first. My only regret is I live 700 miles away otherwise I would definitely use their services again.

My dog Cooper loves this place! It’s his first time with doggy daycare so I wasn’t sure how he would react, particularly since he barks at dogs when on walks. Turns out he’s super excited to go to daycare each morning and loves being with dogs all day! The staff is friendly and facilities are very clean. I’m so glad Dogtopia opened near me.
