🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
West Goshen Township Dog Park is a popular spot among local pet owners looking for a convenient dog park in West Chester, Pennsylvania. This park is fully fenced and double-gated for safety, making it an ideal space where your dog can run and socialize off-leash. Visitors appreciate the friendly crowd—both human and canine—and the secure environment. The park is wheelchair accessible and offers a spacious, enclosed area perfect for dogs of all sizes to play.
There are several amenities that set this dog-friendly destination apart, including solid parking availability, plenty of waste bags, and a variety of dog obstacles/agility equipment, though some may occasionally need repairs. A covered gazebo and benches provide some seating, but shaded areas can be limited, especially during sunny days. While there are no water fountains, dog bowls are often available, so it’s recommended to bring your own water. The park’s surface is mainly dirt due to frequent use, which can be dusty at times. Overall, it’s a practical choice for dog owners seeking a welcoming and accessible space in West Chester.
Our dog absolutely loves the West Goshen Dog Park! There is a really great crowd of dogs and owners. We haven’t run into any issues and have been consistently visiting for over a year. Plenty of parking, dog bowls, balls, and obstacles.
Standard dog park. Nothing fancy but I’m very glad to have a dog park.
CONS:
– NO WATER SOURCE
Make sure to bring water for your dog! No water fountain/taps available for public use.
– EXTRAS. There are some cute obstacles for the dogs however one was broken the last several times we went. This may have been fixed. I stopped checking.
PROS:
ENTRANCES. There are two entrances/exits! If your dog is a bit shy use the other one farther to the left. The main one is most easily seen when you come from the parking lot. Most of the dogs love to greet newcomers at this gate. This can be overwhelming for some dogs and some scuffles can ensue. My wife and I have been able to let our dog into the park through the second entrance/gate with better results.
AMENITIES. Always tons of plastic poop bags. Please pick up after your pooch! There are usually a few tennis balls lying around – donated by players that frequent the nearby tennis courts. Keep an eye out for these if your dog becomes overly fond of items and does not like to share.
Nice place for dogs to run & play. There wasn’t really any grass, so very dusty when the wind blew!
Nice dog park. Chain link fence enclosed with secure double gate entry for you and your furry companion. Several park benches to sit and relax while you dog plays, though all are in the sun. Would suggest relocating some in shady areas. Big detractor is most of the park is dirt because of all the dog activity. Would be nice if it were better maintained and over seeded early spring for the up coming warmer months. If your dog lays or rolls around in the dirt he/she will get pretty dusty. Had to bathe mine after. Gazebo area also which is covered to relax and chat or read.
Me and buddy ha a great time, we had the whole park to ourselves
